Description itinerary

The Giazza Square, antique village of high Val D'Illasi with Umbrian origin, is the departure of this amazing day trip into fascinating Giazza wood; after leaving the residential area you'll climb skirting the luxuriant Fraselle torrent until country road near the famous Locke source, where there is a writing in cimbro, which welcomes walker and lover of mountain. After that you will follow a comfortable dirt road which passes close to some small village with typical german name (Feceraute, Gisoul) and goes in the green of wood; the aproar of water can accompany the walker during all the first part of the day trip, which includes a visit of "calcara" signaled by turn. After some meters you could see the fording, many years ago on a small wood bridge, and now better thanks to recent plumbing intervention. The road starts to go up and allows to reach quickly Casa Vaizelù, mountain building with picturesque mountain building with next source. 

After overtaking Casa Vaizelù you will take the path CAI n°284, which shortens all the left side of Val Fraselle until a abandoned village called Prusti di Sopra; in this part you can admire the grandiose and monumental tilias, which were used as cowshed by shepherds.

From ruins of Prusti di Sopra you could go quickly to Prusti di Sotto, passing by a dirt road; following this road you will pass through Selle, panoramic and grassy house, which are used as pasture for the medium seasons; this path reachs Selle, abandoned locality exposed to west for admiring the rocks, which circumscribes Lessinia upland. From Selle you go towards wood to go in a path, which reaches Telderi, small village over Giazza cemetery, which for some years has hosted a livestock of alpacas and llamas. This path continues towards Giazza, but before you have to stop in piazzola del Carbon del Nello e Giorgio dell'Osteria Ljetzan, who every year in the beginning of May light the charcoal kiln and produce precious coal for wood, which will be used for cooking delicious dishes on grill for their own Osteria in Giazza square.

Technical informations:

Difficulties: trekking route with a medium difference in height, without any particular difficulties, which develops on dirt road and signal path between beech wood, spruce fir and pasture of medium mountain.
Practicability: on foot, adapt for family too (advised against stroller)
