Itinerary description

The vast car park Piazza della Posta of Erbezzo is the point of your departure of this brief but interesting trip along the western slope of Vajo dell'Anguilla on the east of Erbezzo; after leaving the square you will keep going on the left for almost ten meters to turn on the right in Melotti Village, where some modern buildings are located close to old stables with barns still visible. After this small residential area, you will descend until the wide Telderi village, toponym of cimbra origin that remembers the presence in the Erbezzo territory of these Teutonic populations. The crowd of houses is facing south and it is distant just few meters from another small housing unit, made up by "teda", a stable with barn and gabled roof, architectural feature amply common in center-eastern of Lessinia. From Telderi you will continue, following the track with purple signal which immerses in a beautiful beech and carpini wood, until a small grassland with a perfect and panoramic view towards Vajo dell'Anguilla and Bosco Chiesanuova area.

The suggestive Scalchi village will wait for you to show you an enchanting and small group of houses; after crossing the village you will go up along a steep track until località Rucchio and then you will reach the old and council road, which connected every village of slope of Erbezzo. Exactly on the corner of the street there is a nineteenth-century sacello with inner frescos, which remember a epidemic of cholera, which damaged the village in 1836; on the sides of entry you will read a engraved, which says “1836 TEMPO CUI INFIERIVA IL MORBO CHOLERA – FERMATI O PASSAGER IL CAPO INCHINA E SALUTA DEL CIEL LA GRAN REGINA”.

After the brief stop in sacello you will go up and you will reach quickly the church of Erbezzo, built in the first 1700s in the same place of a small and preexisting church. The trip will finish close to municipal hall and the historical Albergo Ristorante Berna.
